Job Title: Band 7 Sonographer
Location: Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC)
Employment Type: Full-Time Agency
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Sonographer to join our dynamic ultrasound team within the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC). The successful candidate will be responsible for independently performing a wide range of general medical ultrasound examinations and contributing to high-quality diagnostic services.
This is a full-time position, requiring flexibility and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care in line with NHS standards. Previous NHS experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities:

Independently perform and report on a variety of general medical ultrasound scans including:
*
Abdominal
*
Gynaecological
*
Testicular
*
Soft tissue
*
Groin
*
Ensure high standards of clinical practice in line with national guidelines and Trust protocols.
*
Accurately document and communicate findings using the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
*
Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team within the CDC and other Trust departments.
*
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in ultrasound technology and procedures.
*
Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review processes.
*
Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and students as required.
Essential Requirements:
*
Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PGCert/PGDip/MSc or equivalent).
*
NHS experience in a Sonographer role.
*
Competence in a wide range of general ultrasound examinations (as listed above).
*
Current HCPC registration
*
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*
Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
*
Commitment to providing patient-centred care and maintaining confidentiality.
Desirable:
*
Experience working in or transitioning to a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) environment.
*
Knowledge of quality assurance and audit practices in ultrasound..
Work Hours/Location:
*
Full-time hours, typically Monday to Friday with occasional weekend cover if required.
*
Based at the Community Diagnostic Centre, with potential for cross-site working depending on service needs
