Your new role
We are looking for an emotionally intelligent individual with experience working with bereavement and loss to join our Early Intervention Team within our Bereavement department, who provide bereavement support in the early stages of the grieving process. The day-to-day main focus of the role will be assessing the support needs of the bereaved adult through sensitively conducting a telephone Bereavement Needs Assessment. This assessment will then result in either referral into our Adult Bereavement Service for formal support or signposting to other services. The post-holder will also contribute to the effective provision of early intervention support by undertaking time-focussed telephone calls to offer information and guidance to the Next of Kin in the first few weeks after their loved ones death.
To succeed in this role
You will hold a Level 4 Diploma inCounselling or other relevant profession and have experience using your counselling/active listening skills to assess bereavement support needs and to offer a time-focussed supportive telephone conversation. You will bring to the team a high level of flexibility and customer service skills, and excellent ICT skills with ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a range of people. It is just as important to us that you are an empathetic and genuine person who can work proactively as part of a team, and that you are able to maintain a professional, approachable demeanour and can do attitude, even in emotionally demanding situations.
