We are looking for a Deputy Manager for our dementia friendly care home in Haywards Heath. There are exciting times ahead as we expand our home this year from 33 to a 60 bed home. Youll be part of an expanding team as the home grows!

We are looking for someone who can assist the Care Home Manager in the efficient running of the Home, ensuring regulatory and legal requirements are met, residents receive excellent service and care from you and your team and the home operates within its agreed budget. Oakwood Court is part of a not for profit housing association that provides care and housing to older residents across Sussex.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Care Home Manager in the day to day running of the home, deputising for the manager in their absence to ensure high standards are maintained within the home
  • Assisting the manager to ensure the home is sufficiently staffed at all times providing a consistent service to the residents and to be on call at certain times,
  • Assisting the Care Home or Head of Care with assessing potential residents, ensuring the home maintains a high level of occupancy.
  • Assisting the Home Manager with identifying and addressing any resident, relative and staff issues
  • Ensuring the home meets its regulatory and legal requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

  • NVQ level 4 or equivalent and working towards NVQ level 5
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory position within a care setting
  • The ability to effectively lead and develop a high performing team
  • Experience of managing staff and helping them develop through learning, staff supervisions and appraisals
  • Understanding of the issues involved in caring for frailer older people
  • Sound understanding of the Fundamental Standards of Quality and Safety
  • Understanding of safeguarding
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills and is willing to learn new systems
Hours of work: 40 hours per week, including some weekends
