This is an opportunity to be part of a newly established clinical insourcing organisation with ambitious growth plans for nationwide expansion. The company’s mission is to partner with NHS trusts to accelerate elective recovery using Consultant-led, patient-centred insourced teams. The right candidate will be a forward-thinking clinical leader able to champion the insourced elective service. You’ll drive gold-standard patient safety, clinical excellence, and outstanding patient experience, all while nurturing team development and innovative service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Governance & Patient Safety

  • Lead governance, safeguarding, incident response, and complaint management to uphold impeccable standards.
  • Chair the Governance Committee and lead audits to drive measurable improvements.

Operational Leadership in Insourcing

  • Serve as the nursing expert for contract planning, mobilisation, staffing, and launches.
  • Design staffing templates and skill mixes to ensure safe, effective service delivery.
  • Co-review contract performance—clinical outcomes and patient feedback—and lead actionable improvements.

Visible, Team-Led Leadership

  • Provide hands-on leadership across NHS partner sites, cultivating shared learning and professional development.
  • Line-manage Specialty Lead Nurses and Nurses in Charge; hold monthly one-to-ones and weekly leadership forums.

Workforce Planning & Recruitment

  • Lead recruitment, induction, revalidation, appraisal, and performance frameworks for clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with Recruitment and Clinical Coordination teams to ensure precise workforce planning aligned with demand.

Policy & Protocol Development

  • Shape evidence-based pathways, SOPs, and clinical protocols in line with CQC/NHS England guidelines.

Risk Management & Safeguarding

  • Proactively assess and manage clinical risk, lead Duty of Candour practices, and maintain active liaison with NHS governance teams.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build trusted relationships with NHS Trusts, commissioners, and partner teams.
  • Act as clinical lead during contract mobilisation or incidents, supporting business development with clinical assurance.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Registrations

  • Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration and Mentorship qualification.
  • Post-registration degree plus Leadership/Management qualification; Master’s or equivalent clinical leadership experience preferred.
  • Conflict resolution qualification desirable.

Experience

  • At least 2 years at AfC Band 8a or above in a relevant clinical leadership position.
  • Minimum 5 years in nursing leadership roles, overseeing clinical teams, HR, and operational delivery.
  • Proven experience in clinical governance, risk management, incident handling, and policy development.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, collaboration across professional boundaries, and IT systems use (MS Office, clinical systems).
  • Desirable: insight into insourcing and elective recovery operations, DBS clearance, and flexibility for hybrid/remote work.
