Job Title; Independent prescriber Drug and Alcohol service

Salary: £45-55/ph

Hours; 22.5 3 days a week

Location; Halifax

Contact length: 3 months with potential to extend

We are recruiting a skilled and compassionate Independent Prescriber to join a drug and alcohol service based in Halifax.

About the role:

This role involves providing high quality care for individuals experiencing substance misuse issues, ensuring effective treatment planning, prescribing medication and supporting recovery. As a Independent Prescriber you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based interventions, optimize clinical outcomes and contribute to the overall health and well-being of service users.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical assessment with or without prescribing a range (including controlled drugs) to support recovery in line with national and organisational guidelines and polices.
  • Prescribe cost effectively and according to best practice and provide prescribing information and advice to pharmacists, shared care GPs and hospital staff.
  • Blood born virus (BBV) management, care planning, monitoring, evaluation and reviews in practice and outreach settings.
  • Deliver health promotion and harm reduction interventions in a client centred manner (e.g. safer sex, contraception, nutrition and healthy living)
  • Promote and deliver immunisation against hepatitis B in line with national guidance.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of client clinical database; Co-ordinate data entry and retrieval searches and reports to meet the internal and external service requirements as appropriate and ensuring data security at all times.
  • Deliver clinical interventions across hubs in different locations and deliver outreach as required

Required:

  • Enhanced DBS
  • First level registered nurse or registered pharmacist
  • Independent prescriber qualified
  • RCGP qualifications level 1
  • Experience in delivering evidence based treatments in substance misuse
  • Previous experience of carrying out general health care assessments including BBV, delivering health promotion / harm reduction and advice and information.
