About the Role
Stepping Stones Services is a trusted and compassionate provider of health and social care services. We support individuals in their own homes, assisting those with a variety of health needs, including learning disabilities, mental health issues, physical disabilities, and those requiring assistance with personal care.
We are seeking a Service Manager who is specialised in Mental Health to join our team in Rochdale to help lead and develop our services, ensuring compliance with care standards and making a meaningful difference in peoples lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of the services under your responsibility
- Perform thorough evaluations and develop individualised care plans, risk assessments, fire evacuation strategies, and other health-related documents.
- Create safety plans and tools to manage mental health risks
- Lead on planning for new or high-risk placements, ensuring an effective and supportive transition period.
- Ensure timely reassessments and plan modifications in line with individual needs.
- Monitor and audit quality of care and strive for continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Effective line management of your teams including supporting the care team through regular supervisions, appraisals, and mentoring.
- Assist with recruitment, inductions, team meetings and ongoing team development to ensure that they are skilled and knowledgeable to respond to mental health needs
- Help staff during mental health incidents (such as self-harm or suicidal thoughts)
- Work with mental health teams, social services, and emergency services
- Support safeguarding decisions and help with risk plans
- Attend meetings with other professionals to plan care suitable for the People We Support
- Build strong relationships with families, carers, funders and external agencies.
- Support the creation of rotas that reflect the needs of service users and staff availability.
- Support with Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration and inspection processes.
Essential:
- Experience working in mental health crisis services (e.g. NHS, social care, charity
- sector)
- Proven experience in a similar management role.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- A clear understanding of person-centred care, mental health law, safeguarding and risk management.
- Able to stay calm under pressure and make quick decisions
- Confident working with other professionals and services
- Experience supporting people with complex needs
- Able to work independently and across different sites
Full UK driving licence essential.
Desirable:
- Background in mental health (e.g. RMN, Social Worker, Psychology Practitioner)
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Experience supporting staff wellbeing
- Experience in service development and partnership working.
- Familiarity with CQC standards and inspections.
Hours of work: Working hours will be predominantly 38.5 hours per week, Monday to
Friday.
In order to meet the needs of the service this will include on call duties and work outside of office hours or as required by the needs of the business.
