Occupational Therapist

Location: Forest Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne

Contract Type: Permanent (Term-time only)

Salary: £43,560 – £49,789 per annum (pro rata if starting mid-academic year)


About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Therapy Team at a vibrant college setting supporting young adults with complex needs.

We need a passionate and adaptable Occupational Therapist to become part of a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team committed to delivering best practice and shaping services to meet the evolving needs of learners.

This is a term-time only role working with young adults with a range of needs including cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, communication and sensory impairments, and Autism Spectrum Conditions.


What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting students in developing functional life skills to promote independence
  • Delivering Occupational Therapy interventions as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Participating in service development and contributing to a high-quality therapy provision
  • Engaging in collaborative working with education and care staff
  • Attending multidisciplinary meetings and supporting EHCP outcomes


What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a qualified and HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a passion for inclusive education and therapy-led support. Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities
  • Skills in postural management, sensory assessments, or use of specialist equipment
  • A strong belief in teamwork and collaborative practice
  • A flexible, enthusiastic, and person-centred approach

Please note: Salary amounts are based on the full academic year (1 Sept – 31 Aug). If your employment begins part way through the year, salary will be adjusted accordingly.
