Job Advertisement: Personal Support Staff for Cody

Are you passionate about making a difference? Do you have a sunny outlook and a flair for planning? We are seeking dedicated and proactive individuals to join a seamless support team for Cody, a remarkable young man who is soon to transition from college.Cody has PMLD and there are no further education establishments for young adults like him , therefore , he will make his own way through these early adult years , and you will be the person who supports him to do that .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and with initiative to ensure Cody's day is well-structured and engaging.
  • Plan, organise, and maintain a detailed diary for Cody, including researching and booking activities that align with his interests.
  • Drive Cody to appointments and activities, ensuring safe and reliable transportation.
  • Create and manage a nutritious menu, monitoring and recording his dietary needs and health metrics.
  • Maintain Codys schedule, ensuring punctuality for all appointments.
  • Provide light cleaning and household management to maintain a tidy environment.
  • Advocate for Cody in various settings, ensuring his needs and preferences are met, especially under pressure.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and excellent timekeeping to adapt to changing needs and schedules.
  • Engage with Cody in a fun, supportive manner, contributing positively to his daily experiences.
  • Utilise experience with disability support to cater to Codys unique requirements.

Essential Requirements:

  • A valid driving licence
  • Proven experience in disability support and personal care.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to advocate effectively.
  • A positive, energetic attitude with the capacity to handle challenging situations with grace.
  • An understanding of what PMLD is and how to overcome the societal and structural challenges that brings.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience in planning and executing personalised activity schedules.
  • Creative thinking to enhance Cody's daily experiences.
  • Capability in record-keeping and report management related to health and activities.
