Total Care Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of Antrim Area Hospital for a Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy hospital pharmacy team, supporting the preparation, supply, and delivery of medication and medical supplies.
Job SummaryUnder the supervision of senior pharmacy staff, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient supply of medicines and related items to patients and departments across the hospital.
You may be required to complete the Pearson Level 2 Certificate in The Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff, with training delivered one day per month at South Eastern Regional College (Bangor or Lisburn Campus).
Key ResponsibilitiesReceive, check, shelve, and issue pharmacy items
Maintain stock control, rotate stock, and monitor expiry dates
Participate in bulk issue services and ward top-ups
Assemble and issue ward orders and IV fluids
Deliver prescriptions and controlled drugs to wards
Assist with broken pack dispensing, pre-packing, and community supply
Operate pharmacy robots and support new systems
Cover pharmacy reception and respond to requests professionally
Adhere to infection control, safety policies, and standard operating procedures
Support new staff during training where appropriate
5 GCSEs (Grades AG) including English Language and Maths at Grade C or above
ORNVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services / BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Support
(Candidates without NVQ/BTEC must be willing to undertake the qualification if successful)Good general health and attendance
Effective communication and organisational skills
Computer literacy and basic numeracy
Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car (criteria waived for those with a disability who meet travel requirements by other means)

Knowledge of current Health & Social Care trends
