Clinical Coder – Band 5 Location: Dorset/Fully remote option
Hours: 37.5 per week (Full-Time, Permanent)

As a Band 5 Clinical Coder, you will play a pivotal role in accurately translating complex medical information into coded data using ICD-10 and OPCS-4, supporting critical functions such as funding, reporting, clinical audit, and patient care planning.
What You’ll Be Doing
Extract and analyse detailed clinical information to assign accurate codes using national standards.
Maintain exceptional data quality to support national performance metrics, mortality statistics, and clinical decision-making.
Work collaboratively with consultants, clinical teams, and information governance professionals.
Mentor less experienced coders and contribute to a strong team culture through peer reviews and knowledge sharing.
Support audit, performance reviews, and the implementation of local and national coding updates.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge in clinical coding standards and healthcare advancements.
Manage your workload independently while contributing to the overall success of the department. Who We’re Looking For
Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) – essential.
Proven experience coding inpatient episodes across multiple specialties.
Strong understanding of NHS data standards and the significance of coded clinical data.
Comfortable handling complex or sensitive clinical information, including textual and photographic content.
Confident communicator, able to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and present at meetings.
