In the role you would be expected to implement a holistic, therapeutic and dynamic approach to helping our pupils in their daily lives - ensuring they are safe, comfortable and their occupational and sensory needs supported throughout their day. Undertaking all aspects of Occupational Therapy clinical duties, you would be expected to carry out standardised and non-standardised assessments, bespoke interventions, and prepare relevant documentation - including writing reports and sensory profiles. SURREY CLINICAL SPECIALIST PAEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (REHABILITATION) BAND 8B - £56,388 - £62,785 per annum pro rata (dependent upon experience and inclusive of London weighting) 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE) with option to possibly increase to 0.9 FTE
(approximately 0.6 clinical and 0.2 team leadership responsibilities) The role of the Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist is to provide occupational therapy clinical expertise to children and young people with acquired brain injury and neurodisability accessing inpatient neurorehabilitation, long term disability management placements and short breaks. The service aims to promote outcome focussed interventions, safe therapy and care, function, and participation, of children and young people accessing home, school, and community life.
You will provide high quality advanced practical and theoretical knowledge, evidence-based teaching, consultation, assessment, treatment planning and interventions. You will provide an expert level of occupational therapy leadership to the rehabilitation occupational therapy team, offering supervision and clinical support to drive quality and effectiveness of service delivery. You will work collaboratively across the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring all children receive personalised, intensive, and high-quality occupational therapy interventions.
You will work closely with the community rehabilitation team to support flexible delivery of provision across inpatient and outpatient services. You will carry your own specialist caseload and you will lead on clinical audit, quality improvement and research.
