Start date: ASAP AKTON Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for an Occupational Therapist in the Newham area. Purpose: To work closely with Reablement officers (RO's) to embed their Trusted Assessor (TA) skills, to sign-off TA level equipment competencies (second cohort of RO's some of whom have already started the self-directed training) and to deliver more training in house on basic equipment as required.
Revisit the competencies of some the RO's from the first cohort of TA training, who are prescribing fewer items of equipment.
Ensure a greater range of Reablement strategies are used; including wider range of equipment (outside of TA level), identify minor and make recommendations for major adaptations; use of bespoke fatigue management and falls advice; greater bespoke IAG; activity analysis; greater problem solving and to support the development of improved clinical reasoning.
Pilot joint goal setting visits with 3-4 RO's and track benefits in terms of leaving Reablement with no or lower POC compared to the average and ability of the service to increase the scope of referrals accepted.
To hold a small caseload as needed of complex or DHC cases...

About the role
Buzz Learning School and College are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our growing team. In the role you would be expected to implement a holistic, therapeutic and dynamic approach to helping our students in their daily lives - ensuring they are safe, comfortable and their occupational and sensory needs supported throughout their day. Undertaking all aspects of Occupational Therapy clinical duties, you would be expected to carry out standardised and non-standardised assessments, bespoke interventions, and prepare relevant documentation - including writing reports and sensory profiles. In addition, you will provide information and training to staff, commissioners and other agencies as required.
You would be working within our growing multi-disciplinary therapy team to help create an environment where our pupils can flourish, learn and develop. The team includes Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology and a therapy assistant[MV1] . Someone with a practical, collaborative and integrated approach to education and clinical services would be perfect for this role.

Essential Criteria:
Occupational Therapy BSc (Hons)
Registered with the HCPC
Experience of working with adults and/or children who have an intellectual disability and/or autism with additional needs (e.g. complex trauma, mental health needs, behaviours of concern)
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of key partners
Able to work sensitively with people and resolve conflict effectively
Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the setting
Substantial and relevant post-qualification experience with children and young people.
Experience of lecturing/teaching/training
Skills in the management of data are also important as the role includes collecting and analysing data to inform various pieces of service delivery, development and project work.
Experience of working with or qualification in sensory integration.
Experience of supervision and training of staff.
Full UK Diving Licence and access to own vehicle required.
