Head of Clinical Procedures - Registered Veterinary Nurse (Maternity Cover, 12 Months) - Upminster, EssexSalary: £35,500

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to step into a 12-month maternity cover position as Head of Clinical Procedures, starting December 2025. This role is ideal for an RVN seeking career progression, leadership responsibility, and the chance to work within a well-equipped, modern veterinary environment.


The Role:

As Head of Clinical Procedures, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and effective running of all clinical procedure areas, maintaining consistently high standards of patient care and client service. This position blends hands-on nursing with leadership, coordination and training responsibilities.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day efficiency of clinical procedure areas
  • Working collaboratively with other Heads of Areas to optimise nursing team workflow
  • Supporting Student Veterinary Nurses, including guidance with NPL progress logs and off-the-job learning hours
  • Participating in all practical nursing aspects of Imaging, Dentistry and Non-Sterile Procedures
  • Working alongside certificate-holding Veterinary Surgeons and liaising with external specialists when required
  • Managing stock levels, equipment maintenance, and ensuring accurate record-keeping
  • Identifying and researching new equipment
  • Staying up to date with CPD and best clinical practices

About You:

This role is suited to a confident and experienced RVN looking to step into a leadership position. You should be organised, proactive and passionate about maintaining high clinical standards. A strong communicator with excellent teamwork skills will thrive in this role.
