Are you an experienced Psychologist looking to take the next step in your career? This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary psychological therapies team which covers both male and female adult acute inpatient wards (23 beds in total) at Potters Bar Clinic.
You will provide a clinical service of specialist psychology assessments and interventions to a number of adult service users with acute mental health needs on the ward. You will also provide a specialist clinical perspective in relation to other service users with whom you might not be directly involved. Potters Bar uses a formulation driven and trauma informed model of care.
Reporting directly to the Lead Psychologist, you will be responsible for individual and group interventions, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, MDT working and risk assessments. You will also facilitate staff reflective practice sessions and be requested to design and deliver training.
As a Psychologist, you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service user’s caseload, including assessing complex needs and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatments to support their care plans.

As a Psychologist you will be:
<ul>
 <li>Working autonomously to provide a specialist psychology service to patients as agreed by Consultant Psychiatrist, Therapies Lead, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and in discussion with wider MDT.</li>
 <li>Undertaking specialist assessments.</li>
 <li>Providing specialist interventions according to formulations based on an appropriate conceptual framework, NICE guidelines, evidence from research, and in accordance with the wider MDT formulation and interventions.</li>
 <li>Be involved in running therapeutic groups on the ward as agreed.</li>
 <li>Continually monitor risk of all patients for whom there is direct contact, or regarding which the post holder receives relevant information, ensure acute risk is managed, liaise with MDT (and in particular responsible psychiatrist) regarding risk, and update electronic record including risk assessment as required.</li>
 <li>Ensuring that all clinical work is adequately recoded in the electronic patient record.</li>
 <li>Attending ward rounds (and other MDT meetings), case conferences, CPAs as required, and provide reports in advance for these in accordance with local procedures.</li>
 <li>Preparing clinical; reports as required, e.g. assessment reports, discharge summaries.</li>
 <li>Liaising with internal and external colleagues as required</li>
 <li>Completing all recording and reporting tasks associated with clinical work.</li>

 To be successful in this role, you'll need:

 <li>Have BPS recognised psychology degrees</li>

For me as a person, my hobbies include railways and history. Both subjects I find really interesting, especially railways. I dont like writing about personality because I never know what to put or dont want to big myself up, nevertheless, I consider myself to be good-humored and down to Earth on most matters. About the job:The ideal candidate will be responsible, confident and sociable. I need help getting to and from the university and getting on/off the train. Thankfully the train guards are really good at helping, they just need someone to tell them I am there and want to get on which can be hard for me on my own because there has been a few occasions when they were inside the train and didnt see me. I also need someone who doesnt mind helping me on a weekend as sometimes I need help getting up in the morning or doing tasks when nobody is there to help.
